Harry Styles’ Pilates
The tight, hunched feeling that builds up when you sit all day.
A portable mat practice that leaves you feeling taller, looser through the hips and back, more at ease in your body. A breathing warm-up, a core and posture sequence, then a long hamstring opener. About 64 minutes, no equipment needed, do it anywhere you can lie down.

Breathing to warm-up
Begin on your back with slow, full breaths, drawing the navel gently to the spine on each exhale. Classical Pilates leads with breath. A Bearmore warm-up to wake the core, not a stand-alone practice Styles has described.
5 min activityBearmore’s thoughts on doing breath work before pilates
This is an excellent pairing because the rib control and precise breath patterning from breath work are exactly what Pilates' inhale-exhale cues ask of you.

Core and posture mat work
Work a flowing mat sequence for core, spine and posture. Styles took up Pilates in 2012 on an osteopath's advice for his posture, and trains with Exhale's Gaby Noble. Move at your own pace and hold each position only as long as it feels controlled.
20 min activityBearmore’s thoughts on doing pilates before stretching
This is an excellent pairing because warm, engaged muscles lengthen easily, so stretching now locks in range and prevents next-day tightness.

Hamstring and back opener
Finish with long stretches through the backs of the legs and lower back. Breathe out as you lengthen. A Bearmore addition, not a practice he has named.
