The game's on, and you remember what it felt like to be out there.

Rediscover how good it feels to move just for the fun of it. Head to the basketball court, the football field or the hitting nets, take a friend and give it a run. Then walk to your favourite spot and settle in for a slow coffee.

    Cardio training

Start with easy touches until you warm up. No drills, keeping score is just for bragging rights. Swap in a footy, a basketball or whatever code you grew up with; the play matters more than the execution.

  2. Bearmore’s thoughts on doing cardio training before being in nature

There's a useful connection here because heightened senses after cardio let you absorb colours, smells, and breeze more vividly outdoors.

    Being in nature

When the kick-about winds down, keep moving at an easy pace somewhere green, letting your heart rate settle and your legs shake out. This is where effort turns into ease, take the long way round if you have time, or a short loop if you don't.

  3. Bearmore’s thoughts on doing being in nature before eating (mindful)

This can be a good pairing because mindful eating continues the grounded feeling from outside, especially when using fresh ingredients.

Finish sitting down with a coffee, savour it! Notice how the body feels after your run around. A cafe, a park bench or your own back step all work equally well, shared with a friend goes well.

About this Burst

This is to scratch the itch you feel watching sport you once played. Do it your way, take a friend and make it fun. Whatever your sport of choice you can take it at your pace, then build the recovery in with a longer walk outdoors before a coffee to discuss whatever you want. The ball is a stand-in: swap in AFL, basketball, netball or whatever code you grew up with. There’s no fitness bar to clear, no comeback to stage. Just remembering the skills you loved and the fun of messing about with it for a while.
