The Season’s Over, What Now?
No game this weekend, and you’re looking for a new obsession.
Give your weekend its excitement back. A Burst that is worthy of taking the game's place: set an intention to get you started, get your own hit outdoors, start to bring it down with a body scan and then some journaling to close it off.

Intention
Intention settingThe fixture list used to dictate how you spent the weekend; now you set it. Intention setting can be done for the day you’re in, for the week ahead or even the year, you get to chose.
6 min activityBearmore’s thoughts on doing intention setting before cardio training
These do not strongly affect each other because cardio shifts focus to physical performance, possibly leaving intention work behind.

Cardio your way
Cardio trainingHead outdoors for this one, a run, a ride, or a swim, and let it become the new obsession. Go easy the first few weeks and build as you find your pace.
30 min activityBearmore’s thoughts on doing cardio training before journaling
This can be a good pairing because cardio tends to bring up thoughts, and writing afterwards gives that somewhere to go.

Journal while it's fresh in your mind
JournalingFollowing a season can have you caught up in the emotional highs and lows of your team. Take the spotlight back and write about whatever you want. Choosing your favourite prompts can be a great way to put this activity on repeat.
10 min activityBearmore’s thoughts on doing journaling before body scan
This is a strong combination because writing surfaces emotional content that often shows up as physical tension, which a scan may then locate and release.

A ten minute body scan
Body scanWith the harder work done, lie down somewhere comfortable and take your attention through the body, feet to head, letting thinking settle as you go. It closes the sessions nicely instead of just collapsing onto the couch.

About this Burst
For the weeks after the fixture list runs out, when the standing appointment was the game and the post match rundown. This is some time you can set aside for yourself over the weekend: put it on repeat so it holds like a fixture, but take the intensity for own benefits. Scale the cardio to suit you, swap the run for a ride or a brisk walk, and set your own pace. Th time durations are set here but there’s nothing to stop you scaling it back if you want.
